Swimming with turtles is a euphoric experience. They glide effortlessly through the water column and leave me feeling calm and peaceful in their presence. This painting beautifully captures the intricate and colourful patterns of its shell. Set against the backdrop of a decaying wreck, man’s presence is felt everywhere.
Slaughtered for their shells, meat, eggs and skin, sea turtles suffer from poaching and over-exploitation. Nearly all sea turtles are classified as endangered, with three of the seven existing species being critically endangered. If you have an admiration for sea turtles and want to help ensure their survival then you can help raise funds for research, education and action.
